Palo’s group earned the right to challenge the top seed after winning over No.3 seed Batch ’83 in the quarterfinals, 509-504, and overpowered Class ’71 in their next assignment, 537-496 and later defeated Batch ’85 in the semis, 549-516.
On the other hand, Bracket B champion Batch ‘80/81 Combined brought home the crown with a victory over Batch ’88-2001, 566-521 in the deciding match.
The latter nipped the twice-to-beat titleholder in their first game, 512-508, but Alimon’s troop rose from the grave in the final contest to grab the top purse.
The champion team were Romulo ‘D’Gunner’ Ramos, Suzette Morales, Cheryl Ramos, Luche Magtunao, Pedrito Morales,, Francis Palermo, Proceso Lomocso, and Gary Echauz.
Third seeded Class ’88 climbed to the top with a crushing 580-513 triumph over Class ’78 and followed it up with 580-521 against Class ’68.
For their part, Class ’68 tripped Batch ’75 in the opening game, 498-468.
In the clash of bracket champions, Batch ’80-81 was the winner by beating the Class A title holder Batch ’69, 511-506.
In the battle for master’s plum, Boyero downed Jun Lozada in the men, while Chua tracked down Stella Ongsingco in the distaff side.
The highest team single went to Batch ’68 with 586, and triple to Batch ’69 with 1,644.
Tournament’s individual record holders in the men’s corner were Carl Aguda in the single, 160, Romulo Ramos in triple, 397, Carlo Boyero in pinning, 97; Suzette Morales in the women’s single, 148; Mitzi Chua in pinning, 94, and Minnie Chua in triple with 367. The event managed by Ma. Cristina Becite was hosted by Batch ’87./WDJ
