Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson, chairman of the Bacolod Traffic Management Council, scored former Councilor Wilson Gamboa Jr. for claiming that the North Terminal of the city is operating illegally.
According to Sayson, the former councilor should know better as he himself authored City Ordinance 480 establishing the north terminal along the national highway during his tenure as chairman of the Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee on Transportation.
The vice mayor said that if the former councilor believes that the north terminal is operating illegally or was illegally established, he should have gone to the court and sued the city for establishing the transport facility.
Sayson said he has no idea that the operator of the north terminal had increased its terminal fee, which definitely is a violation of the contract it has signed with the city government, as he emphasized that any move to hike the terminal fees as defined under CO 480 should get first an authorization from the city council.
He further said that the timing of the action or “howl” of Gamboa is very suspicious, claiming that the former councilor had waited for the start of the political season before raising the legality against the terminal operation.
If he is serious in his bid to question the operation of the north terminal, he should have filed cases long ago and not only now, Sayson added.
The vice mayor stressed that the awarding of the terminal operation to Crispin Chua was above board as it passed through the process of bidding./WDJ
